  • Where are you located?
Chef Abigail is available for travel worldwide. Travel costs are calculated from her base city on the date of the event. Please refer to the bottom of the homepage for updated locations and discounts on travel fees! Ginkgo Fine Dining is registered in Washington State for all legal contracts. Not all events will incur a travel fee.
  • Do you host public events?
Please see my events page for all my offerings: retreats, pop-up dining events and cooking classes will be listed here. If you are interested in collaboration, please send me an email directly!
  • What kind of cuisines do you serve?
All kinds! Every menu is customizable for you and your guests. We begin our planning by talking about your preferences, the event date and location. Seasonal produce and availability of seafood are taken into consideration, and we source local and organic ingredients where possible. Chef Abigail has experience in cuisines across the world including Japanese, Mexican, Spanish, French and Italian. She is always excited learn new recipes from around the world, and Greek, Moroccan, Filipino, Vietnamese and Thai foods have taken the spotlight for past events.
  • Do you accommodate for dietary restrictions and allergies?
Absolutely! All menus will be designed considering allergies and dietary restrictions. While we cannot assure that every kitchen will be completely free from allergens, we will make every effort to clean and sanitize thoroughly to minimize the risk of cross-contamination. Dietary needs must be made 14 days or more prior to the event.
  • What style of dining do you offer?
Please see my services for more details. For one-time events, Family-Style or Plated Tasting Menus are available. For Vacation Meal Services, a combination of buffet, family-style / large format plating and individual plating will be organized.
  • Do you offer dishware rentals?
Yes: GFD has rental options available for up to 24 guests, for up to 6-course menus, in the PNW area. Inquire for the full list of prices and photos. For groups larger than 24, we will source rentals from an external company. Please coordinate the number of dishes with Abigail for these outside rentals.
  • What will my Event look like?
Table Set-up and Decor: Your table will be arranged in accordance with your chosen service style and based on the dishware, linens and placemats provided. The table will be set by GFD with the help of an appointed party host or coordinator. Each service is accompanied by a printed menu that outlines the meal for you and your guests. You may choose to enhance your table settings with florals and candles - please inquire for pricing. Music: Chef Abigail recommends music be played over a speaker during each meal. A Dinner Playlist will be played over a portable speaker, as chosen by the chef for the ambiance of the event if no other arrangements are made. Lighting: An essential aspect of a private dining event is the lighting of the table and kitchen. Examples for night-time lighting include: Firelight or cafe lights for an outdoor dinner, candlelight for the table, or simply utilizing light switch dimmers to create a comfortable atmosphere while allowing each guest to enjoy the visuals of each dish.
  • What if we want to host an Outdoor Event?
Outdoor dining is my favorite! Many event spaces have appointed outdoor spaces for dining, and there are picnic shelters, State Park spaces and National Forrests that allow for small event setups. If you have a private outdoor location, the possibilities can be endless. If you would like to consider a beach-front dinner or mountain-view dining where there are no facilities I offer a camp-kitchen setup for up to 24 guests in the PNW area. Please inquire for outdoor dining packages, luxury picnic setups and more.
  • Do you require an Event Coordinator?
For events larger than 20 guests, an appointed Planner or Coordinator is recommended. For events larger than 50, an Event Planner will be required to be onsite for the duration of the event.
  • When will you arrive onsite?
For Dinner Services, we will arrive 3-4 hours before your event starts, based on the menu. For Vacation Meals or Retreats, we travel to the location 1-2 days in advance for shopping and preparation, depending on the number of guests. For other services or classes, please reach out to Chef Abigail directly.
  • What can we do to prepare for your arrival?
GFD requests a clean and functioning kitchen and dining area prior to arrival and setup, where available: Empty and clean dishwasher, kitchen sink and counters. Clean and working appliances and some space the refrigerator. Provide garbage and recycling containers and bags, and instruction for waste removal after the service. If any of these needs cannot be met, please arrange with GFD ahead of time to be sure we can provide you with a clean and sanitary service. GFD will sanitize kitchen and dining surfaces prior to set-up. If GFD needs to do more than surface sanitizing upon arrival, extra time may be needed for the dinner start time, and the host will be notified.
  • Do you offer cleanup after the service?
We will manage all of our cleanup after your dinner service. This includes the kitchen space and any dishes and linens from the dinner, with the exception of beverages and glassware unless bartenders or beverage service is paid for in advance. Leftovers from certain services may be packaged and stored for you upon request. Cleanup usually takes about 1 hour after the event end time.
  • How do you keep each workspace sanitary?
Sanitation of surfaces prior to set-up is the first priority, as well as handwashing and use of non-latex gloves for preparation and cooking on and off-site. For outdoor cooking and dining, please be aware that it may be difficult to prevent all physical or biological contaminants (such as ash from a fire). Chef Abigail holds all necessary certificates and practices a safe and sanitary kitchen and dining area. Certifications are held through ServeSafe (Nationwide), NYC Food Protection certification, as well as a FoodSafe certification in the Province of British Columbia (CA). Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish or eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness, especially if you have certain medical conditions or are pregnant.
  • What is your general policy? Booking, Cancellation, Event Changes etc.
A 50% deposit will be required to save the date of the event, $250 of which is non-refundable. The remaining 50% will be due prior to the event. Any changes to the guest count or menu must be made 14 days prior to the event. If the Client requests cancellation 14 or less before the event, GFD shall be entitled to 100% of the estimated total costs. Cancellation made 60 days or less before the event date, 50% of the total will be non-refundable.
